HSBC History Wall, Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam

The success of the HSBC Archives Gallery inspired the roll out of a series of History Walls in their offices around the world, including in Ho Chi Minh’s The Metropolitan.

Project Details

In March 1865, HSBC opened its doors for business in Hong Kong, helping to finance trade between Europe and Asia. A local bank in Hong Kong subsequently grew into a global financial institution. Leveraging the heritage of the global company with local historical references, we designed a series of History Walls incorporating graphics, objects and audiovisual in offices from Birmingham to Tokyo.

Transforming the corner of Nguyen Du and Dong Khoi Streets, two of the most vibrant and dynamic streets of Ho Chi Minh City, The Metropolitan is prominently located on Paris Commune Square opposite the Notre Dame Cathedral and General Post Office. The 1920’s era General Post Office building, the twin-spired towering cathedral, tree lined avenues and a large open square establish The Metropolitan within one of the most visually prominent yet appealing locations in HCMC.
