In the heart of the new city in the east of Ningbo, China, the 25,000 square metre urban planning exhibition centre aims to create dialogue between the public and city decision-makers by creating a forum-like concept in which discussions between politicians, professionals and the public may take place. In the new Centre, the lines between citizens and decision-makers are blurred; visitors are given rare access to the inner-workings of their city.
We created a masterplan for the visitor experience which laid out project aims, site planning and spatial configuration, naming, branding, storyline interpretation, narrative walkthrough and event programming. This allowed the client to check that architectural concepts would work with the proposed internal spaces.
